The below listed registries are NOT recognized by Code of Ethics Breeders as organizations that can trace the purebred heritage of a Coton de Tulear. These organizations frequently have dogs with a heritage of mixed breedings with Maltese, Bichon, Havanese, poodle, etc, and try to pass them as purebred Cotons. When this happens, you as the buyer will assume this is a legal purebred puppy. These are registrations you will see in pet stores and puppy mills:
APRI (American Pet Registry, Inc)
NKC (National Kennel Club)
ACR (American Canine Registry)
DRA (Dog Registry of America, Inc)
NAPR (North America Purebred Registry, Inc)
CKC (Continental Kennel Club)
NOTE: These registries are commonly used on dogs and puppies being sold over the internet. BUYER BEWARE, make sure you are getting what you are paying for. Make sure you are covered in your contract. There is a major racket of stolen pedigrees. Anyone can create a pedigree on the computer that contains many champion names, and they will sell you that puppy over the internet. Please contact me if you have further questions about how to identify a stolen or 'manufactured' pedigree.
